Bukit Timah region is home to many premier residential estates designated as Good Class Bungalow (GCB) Areas. It is well known as one of Singapore's most influential and wealthy private enclaves. Not only that, it’s strategic central region location means residents will be a short walk, a short drive, or really, just a stone’s throw away from the hippest lifestyle and entertainment spot.
According to the 2019 Draft Masterplan by URA, this prominent location with a high land value area is going to witness some new, exciting transformations that will only further secure its position as the most sought-after places to live in in Singapore.
Now, let us take a look at the upcoming transformation in the area and what we can expect!
1. Rail Corridor A former railway line that stretches 24km from north to south of Singapore, this trans-island green artery that focuses on 3 themes: Heritage & Culture, Biodiversity & Greenery, and Recreation, is a highly unique and inclusive public space that can accommodate a wide variety of activities.
In Bukit Timah region alone, several key highlights such as Rifle Range Nature Park, Bukit Timah Railway Station, and Former Station Master’s Quarters will see restoration and conservation works to welcome the community from all walks of life together. When completed, this green corridor will link residents in Bukit Timah to the upcoming Woodlands North Coast as well as Greater Southern Waterfront.
2. Beauty World Integrated Transport Hub This upcoming integrated development is envisioned to inject vibrancy into the Bukit Timah area while enhancing the overall commuting experience with better connection between the Downtown Line and various bus services.
The transport hub will house a fully air-conditioned bus interchange of at least 5,000 sqm, and will have at least 400 sqm for passenger concourse passageways and retail space.
3. Bukit Timah Community Building Sitting just opposite of the Beauty World Integrated Transport Hub, this community building is set to be a one-stop integrated facility with a Community Club, redeveloped market, and a hawker centre. Some mention-worthy amenities include an indoor sports hall, community library and elderly facility which will enhance liveability.
So, what does these transformations mean? Of course not just to add more colours to the already colourful lifestyle you can enjoy by living in Bukit Timah.
