Greater accessibility for singles looking to purchase their own homes

Buying a BTO flat has come to be synonymous with marriage proposals in Singapore, but housing certainly isn’t only for those with marriage on the cards.

Come 2024 (the second half of the year, to be precise), singles will be able to have access to a wider variety of public housing types.

On top of the reclassification of HDB flats, which are no longer defined by the maturity of the housing estates, singles will have the option of any 2-room Prime, Plus, and Standard BTO flats. They would no longer have to limit their choices to particular districts.

Aside from 3Gen flats, singles could consider all Standard and Plus flats, as well as 2-room Flexi Prime Resale flats. An income ceiling will also apply for the purchase of Plus and Prime resale flats.
