Four public housing estates— Ulu Pandan, Mount Pleasant, Tengah, as well as the Keppel Club site, which is part of the Greater Southern Waterfront— will be zoned as car-lite areas.
What does this mean for you?
- Season parking will be reduced, restricted to residents and prioritised for the first car of each residential household
- Residents will be charged a higher Tier 2 season parking for their second and subsequent cars, which would also be subject to availability.
- A limited number of lots will be available for visitors’ short-term parking. Parking charges may also be adjusted according to the demand.
The initiative, alongside the improvement of the public transport system and the expansion of cycling path networks among others, exemplifies Singapore’s increased emphasis on sustainability and green living.
The first BTO flats to be launched in Ulu Pandan would also be the first car-lite HDB precinct. The parking measures may also be refined, should the need arise.
