Clearing the way for housing developments and a connecting road in the new Bayshore precinct is an approximate 31ha of forested areas, which is about the size of 43 football fields.

Situated on reclaimed land, the Bayshore area— bordered by Upper East Coast Road, Bayshore Road, East Coast Parkway (ECP) and Bedok Camp— has been designated for housing development since 2003.

The clearance of the development site is slated to be rolled out in three phases, from 2023 to 2029. Construction works for the upcoming public and private properties will also be underway, for the next four to six years.

The transplantation of conservation-significant flora species is among the recommendations laid out in the environmental impact assessment report prepared by the DHI Water and Environment consultancy for both HDB and the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

While some residents in the vicinity look forward to how the developments will reinvigorate the precinct and potentially boost the capital appreciation of properties, others are concerned about the impact of the construction works.
