Debating with your friends whether it’s the east or the west side of Singapore that is the better side?
The commencement of the construction of the Jurong Region Line (JRL) may just be a new item to add to your justification.
The JRL, which comprises 24 MRT stations including three interchanges, namely Boon Lay, Choa Chu Kang, and Jurong East, will bring about enhanced connectivity in the area. The new MRT line will see around 60,000 additional households within a 10 minute-walk of a train station.
The stations are slated to open in three phases, from 2027 to 2029.
The design of JRL stations is also centred around sustainability, with the incorporation of solar panels, as well as cross flow natural ventilation— an alternative that would reduce the usage of mechanical energy. Sensors that allow for the automatic dimming of lights in the daytime will also be installed in trains.
