The affordability of housing in Singapore is, on some level, akin to the question of whether it is better to live in the east or west of Singapore; it depends on the person you are posing the question to.


A recent report by the Urban Land Institute (ULI) saw Singapore taking the first spot in the region, for the high price tags of its private homes. At the same time, Singapore was conferred the distinction of its homes being “most attainable”, in ULI’s Asia Pacific Home Attainability Index this year.


While owning a landed home is indisputably unrealistic for many of us, resale HDB flats have been on the upward trend for a considerable length of time, with many transactions even hitting the million-dollar mark.
